Our first tournament is in the books. Black Bayou Hosston was a cold, windy, and tough place

to try and catch some fish. It was 29 degrees when we dropped the boats in on Sunday. Not

sure how cold it was Saturday morning. We had dense fog for an hour or two also. The good

news is we had 26 anglers participated over the two days! I believe that is a record turnout for

our club. It was great to see all of you out there.

While Hosston was tough on us, some were able to catch a few. I lucked up again and fooled

exactly 5 fish on a rattle trap to win with 8.09 lbs. and a $222 payday. Scott Huff stuck 4 on

a craw to take 2nd with 7.05 lbs. and took home $159. Ronnie Gillen stuck a beautiful 5.33 lb.

toad at 2:15 on a jig to take 3rd and big bass with 6.84 total and picked up $173. Scott

VanArsdel was 4th with 6.76 and Scott Phelps 5th with 5.16. Phelps had 2nd big bass of 4.18.

There were 28 fish weighed for a total of 54.64 lbs.

Our next tournament is scheduled for Toledo Bend on March 5/6. We will meet at the

Converse public launch and blast off looks like 6:05 am with a 3:00 pm weigh in. Remember

all fish must measure at least 14" to be weighed. You can keep any size spotted bass to eat

if you wish, but can't weigh any under 14". Also remember to be at the launch to sign in by

5:20 as we can trailer 45 minutes before blast off on Toledo. You can't leave your launch of

choice or start fishing until blast off time. Hope to see all of you at "The Bend."

Casting out,
